Im August 2010 besaß die Organisation 39 ehemalige Kirchen und Kapellen, 19 davon in England und 20 in Wales . Die meisten sind anglikanische Kirchen der Church of England oder der Church in Wales; außerdem drei private Kapellen, und die Strict and Peculiar Baptist Chapel in Waddesdon war eine nonkonformistische Kapelle . Alle Kirchenbauten im Besitz der gemeinnützigen Organisation stehen auf der Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. Sie arbeitet eng mit der Ancient Monuments Society zusammen . Die Friends of Friendless Churches wurden 1957 von Ivor Bulmer-Thomas, einem Schriftsteller, Parlamentsabgeordneten und anglikanischen Geistlichen, gegründet.
